London Fashion Week aka LFW is the major event every fashionista is aspired to attend, obviously not everyone is invited. For years it has been designed exclusively for industry and press to have a first sneak peak into what we will be wearing next season. And us mortals can then watch it online or read about it in the magazines, but attendance is very limited. Good news are that fashion bloggers too became a part of this fabulous event. However, I do miss more coverage in their blogs about the collections they are invited to watch. And a little bit of fashion forecasts. Because that’s what they are there for right? At least they should be! 🙂 So although I haven’t been able to attend the real LFW I did attend the faux one.
As the public interest grown within years, British Fashion Council came up with the concept which this year is called “LFW: Insiders”. I am a big fan of fashion weeks across the globe and just to get a feel what it looks like I decided to go. It has been a lovely experience, not to mention all the buzz and street photographers outside of the building in Strand.
The catwalks on the menu were from the young and upcoming designer brands: Marta Jakubowski and Fyodor Golan. And they didn’t disappoint.
Fyodor Golan – brand led by two designers Fyodor Podgorny and Golan Frydman. They showed us the mix of their FW18 and SS19 collections which I found absolutely brilliant. The brand is easily recognisable through vivid colours merged with elevated sportswear aesthetics. If you are a fan of the one-off trendy, eye-catching tracksuits – this designer should be No.1 on your list. Besides that, the dresses and skirts were an absolute show stoppers!
Marta Jakubowski showed us her FW18 collection which with the spring coming is definitely becoming less relevant. But despite this fact I enjoyed the catwalk just as much. I like Marta’s minimalist signature aesthetics. The suits were perfectly structured, but at the same time they looked practical, chic and feminine. The whole collection was dedicated to the female empowerment. And although it isn’t the latest, the colour pallet is so broad that majority of items can be taken from winter straight to spring! It is like a fresh breeze of air for the office ladies who wants to up their work wardrobe.
Additionally to the catwalk experience LFW: Insiders event had a lot of other experiences planned to keep us busy. Industry talks, champagne reception, tote bag (designed by Richard Quinn) and of course shopping. Busy, busy day!
The key is looking your best in these events! I was considering something more colourful, but o opted for a very classic look. Paired pleated black skirt with puffy sleeve white cardigan and black Chanel boots. All finished with the logo clutch from Givenchy.
