The classic Brenton striped shirt have always been a staple piece for pretty much every season. But I must admit, I’ve never owed one. So I broke my pattern and went for the striped sweater this year, and I wasn’t alone.
Alongside with the minimalistic, neutral dressing trend, striped sweaters are on-trend amongst stylish ladies everywhere! But I liked the idea of it not only, because it is trendy right now. More so, because Brenton stripes are the timeless classic. And it will easily carry me from Fall/Winter, right into the Spring/Summer. Which means I will get a ton of wear out of it.

Did you know that, Brenton striped shirt was first introduced in 1858 as the uniform for the French navy? And been brought into fashion by Coco Chanel, who took inspiration from sailors uniform? Her 1917 nautical collection featured stripes, which as result brought a breakthrough in the casual womenswear. She forever changed the landscape of a casualwear by getting women out of the corsets and into the more comfortable clothing. Although Brenton striped shirt was only one of the elements, but nevertheless, it became our forever classic.
FW collections are filled with the variations of a striped sweater this year. Which makes it really easy to find, the one. For me, Arket’s striped cotton jumper was at the top of the list. Not only it is great for winter, but it isn’t too thick for cooler summer days. I wore it with the wide-leg trousers and Chanel slingbacks back in Autumn. (you can find my outfit details here) But it will look just as chic with a pair of good jeans and black coat during the winter. Don’t forget to top it all up with a red lipstick for ultimate a la French look.
